India, 29 October 2022:Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the two-day Conclave at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, New Delhi on Saturday. The Conclave 2022 is hosted by Pratidin Media Network of Assam to take up the issues of Assam and North East India and have meaningful discussions about them on the avenues of power in the national capital.
Pratidin Media Group Chairman Shri Jayanta Baruah congratulated the Union Defense Minister. He spoke there and welcomed everyone who attended the meeting. Jayanta Baruah welcomed Rajnath Singh and thanked him for his presence.
At the opening ceremony, Rajnath Singh said, “The North East has been deprived of the entire nation in terms of development, and this is not in the interest of the country. During our time in power, the insurgency has been controlled, and law and order in the region has improved a lot.”
After that, the first session had AASU Senior Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjya, BJP National GS Dilip Saikia, and APCC President Bhupen Borah debating ‘Regionalism vis-à-vis Nationalism’ along with Time Editor Pratidin-In-Chief Nitumoni Saikia. Senior journalist Mrinal Talkudar hosted the second session on ‘Tea industry in Assam beyond 2030’ along with AERC Chairman Kumar Sanjay Krishna, AATSA Chairman Dhiraj Gowala, and Tea Board of India former Chairman Prabhat Bezbaruah. The next session was on ‘Sustainable tourism and Northeast India’ with Pratidin Media Group Director Smitakshi B Goswami along with panelists Jahnabi Phookan, Travel Entrepreneur and Director of JTI Group and Director of Diplomatic Travel Pvt Ltd, ADTOI President PP Khanna. Editor Nandini Maini Mahanta conducted the fourth session on ‘Energy Security vs Deforestation and Industrialization’. The panel had IIT Guwahati Professor Arup Sharma, Geoscientist Bhagawat Pran Duarah, Star Cement CSO, and North Bengal CII Chairman Pradeep Purohit and Down To Earth Managing Editor Richard Mahapatra.
The fifth and final session of the first day was on ‘Brahmaputra, an alternative transport – a reality, in the backdrop of the Act East Policy’ with Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal in a one-on-one discussion with the Editor. Politics Pratidin Time Nayan Pratim Kumar. During the talks, Sonowal made several important announcements. He announced the construction of a new shipping terminal at Pandu in Guwahati while fighting several other issues.
On the second day, Delhi Police Commissioner Spl Robin Hibu had a one-on-one conversation with Pratidin Times’ Joint Editor Sunit Kumar Bhuyan on ‘How to deal with racism and the problems faced by people in the northeast’. Hibu said that initiatives should be taken from both sides to adopt each other’s behavior. Sunit Bhuyan continued the next session on “drugs, terrorism, geopolitics, and Northeast India” with members of the local council including the GOC-in-C of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command. Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita, Assam Police Spl DGP GP Singh, Cyber Security Expert Subimal Bhattacharjee, and author Sanjoy Hazarika. After that, Maini Mahanta returned for the third session on ‘Women’s health, malnutrition and cardiovascular care in Assam’ along with social activist Monisha Behal, UNICEF regional head Dr Madhulika Jonathan and Pratiksha Hospital Chairman Dr Pramod Sharma. The fourth session on ‘Do sports infrastructure and talent in the North East go together?’ had CWG Gold winner Nayanmoni Saikia, SAI Guwahati Director Satish K Sarhadi, Asomiya Pratidin Sports Editor Bidyut Kalita and Manipur Youth Affairs and Sports Director Laishangam Anita Chanu in conversation with Mrinal Talukdar.
The last speech of the day was hosted by the Director of Pratidin Media Network, Rishi Baruah along with the panel of Assam Chief Secretary CM Samir Sinha, Sapient Wealth Advisors Director Pallav Bagaria, Center Point Group Enterprise MD Larsing Sawyan, and Dalmia Cements MD, CEO General Mahendra Singh. During the session, Mr. Singhi announced plans to invest in two more cement production units in Assam at Umrangso and Lanka.
At the closing ceremony of the event, Nitumoni Saikia was joined by famous actor Adil Hussain who talked about his life by sharing many interesting stories. Hussain said, “I don’t generally praise the word struggle because I didn’t see my journey as one. I felt strongly in my heart that I love acting.”
At the end, Smitakshi B Goswami gave the vote of thanks and concluded the two-day event, ‘The Conclave 2022’.
