Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit continue to investigate two shooting incidents that occurred on May 23, 2022 in Kitchener.

An investigation revealed the first shooting occurred at McLennan Park, 901 Ottawa Street South in Kitchener, around 9:20 p.m.

Investigators believe several people were setting off fireworks in the park’s parking area when the shooting occurred.

Police are asking anyone who has video from the park that night or who was there to contact investigators at 519-570-9777. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.waterloocrimestoppers.com.

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate two shootings in Kitchener.

On May 24, 2022, at approximately 8:15 a.m., police responded to Windflower Drive and Windflower Crescent for a report of damage to a home.

Upon arrival, officers found interior wall and couch damage to the home that was determined to be caused by gunshots.

During the investigation, police discovered that sometime between 10:00 p.m. on May 23, 2022 and 12:00 a.m. on May 24, 2022, a group of individuals fired firecrackers in McLennan Park. A short time later, shots were fired at the residence in the area of ​​Windflower Drive and Windflower Crescent.

On May 24, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., police searched McLennan Park and found evidence of a firearm discharge.

Members of WRPS’ Forensic Identification Unit searched both locations for evidence.

The shootings are believed to be related and incidents at the destination.

The investigation is ongoing under the leadership of members of the General Investigation Unit.
