GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday, released the theme song for the 400th birth anniversary of legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan.

The theme song is composed by famous singer Zubeen Garg.

The Chief Minister of Assam who also spoke there said that the theme song is to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Mahabir Lachit Barphukan and a step taken towards spreading the importance of the Lachit Divas festival and the emotions associated with it at every level.

He hoped that the song would boost the patriotic fervor of the people and help promote the ideals of Lachit Barphukan in the younger generation.

The Chief Minister of Assam also detailed the programs of the state government to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary of the Ahom people in general from 18 to 25 November.

He said that the celebration will begin on November 18 with a parade by the Assam Police, Indian Army, Army, Navy and Air Force and NCC cadets from every district of Assam.

On November 19, an essay competition will be held in educational institutions of Assam.

The Chief Minister of Assam said that the Assam government has taken efforts to beautify Lachit Barphukan’s maidam at Holongapar in Jorhat and turn it into a tourist attraction.

Also, the Assam government will officially take over 50-Bihar, which is a land owned by the local people, on November 20, saying that the regional government will pay 12 million dollars to thank the local people who donated the land.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the grand project which will cost Rs 160 crore will include a 150 feet tall bronze statue of Lachit Barphukan, an assembly hall, a guest house, an amphitheater and a light and sound show.

He also informed that the Assam government has taken steps to protect the memory of the Alaboi war and as part of this a 30 meter long hengdang will be erected at the memorial to honor the sacrifices of the Assamese soldiers.

In addition, there will be a museum, gallery, audio-visual gallery, exhibition hall etc.

The minister also added that from the 20th to the 22nd of November, various activities will take place in the districts, including the blood donation camp, the planting of plants and heritage and other activities such as concerts. , debating competitions and spirited competitions.

The Assam CM said that the central program of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan will be held from November 23 to 25 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

A seminar on the golden age of the Ahom dynasty will be held on November 23.

In New Delhi, on the same day, a multi-art exhibition will be held at the Assam State Museum.

A cultural evening will also be held in New Delhi on the same day. Another seminar will be held on the morning of November 24.

Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the central function this afternoon. A documentary based on the life of Lachit Barphukan will be launched at the event.

The chief minister said that the state government will also take efforts to broadcast the documentary through various electronic media in the next phase to spread the bravery of the great general in India and abroad.

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the closing ceremony of Lachit Barphukan’s 400th birth anniversary on November 25.
