In order to maintain law and order during one of Assam’s mass examinations in Assam, the state government has announced internet shutdown in several districts and imposed section 144 of CrPC in several examination centers on Sunday.

It is worth noting that millions of people who are eager for this exam today Sunday are giving the second phase of the exams, which is part of the large-scale recruitment of various departments of the state governments.

Candidates who have applied for Tier III posts in the recruitment notifications will appear in today’s exam. Whereas, the third and final phase of the exam will be conducted on 11 September. The first phase of the recruitment test was conducted on August 21.

To ensure foolproof preparation for the exam, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with all the stakeholders involved in the preparation of the exam to review the arrangements.

As this is considered as one of the biggest government recruitment exams in the state, the Assam government has been very careful in its arrangements and preparations to leave no room for paper leakage and cheating. Around 14 lakh candidates will appear in the exam to compete for 30,000 posts.

Section 144 has been imposed in the areas near the exams. This was accompanied by security arrangements at the examination centres.

In his tweet, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government is committed to conduct the massive recruitment drive for Class III and Class IV in a fair manner. He also updated the video of the video conference he had with the officials involved in the preparation, and prayed for all the candidates.

In order to avoid any kind of chaos during the exams, he has already asked the DCs and SPs to prepare police forces to prevent any kind of unscrupulous people from disrupting the examination process. In each district where each examination center is located a nodal officer and an observation officer will be appointed. These observed officers will play the role of observers to ensure the implementation of the SOP. The security system has been taken a step forward by deputing a police officer of inspector level at each examination center, who will also be assisted by other police officers.

According to the protocol, not only the candidates, also the invigilators should not be allowed to bring any kind of electronic devices including mobile phones in the examination centers. The examinations will also be recorded by two photographers appointed by the center in charge of each center.
