Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident on September 29, 2022.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of ​​Fitzgerald Drive and Chester Drive in Cambridge.

Upon investigation, police discovered that the suspect fired at the vehicle with a handgun as it was leaving the area.

No physical injuries were reported.

The male suspect barricaded himself inside a residence for several hours while members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Emergency Response Team and Neighborhood Policing Patrol negotiated with the male.

Around 5:30 p.m., police arrested a 39-year-old Cambridge man. The man has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent, reckless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was released in police custody after considering the bail application.
