Kansas City, Mo. – Police have identified the 17-year-old who died in the shooting At a Halloween party Monday night in Kansas City, Kansas.

The victim has been identified as Katron Harris.

Late Wednesday night, a spokesperson for the Turner School District confirmed that Harris is a student at Turner High School.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic shooting of our students at a social gathering yesterday evening,” the district said in a letter to families. “Out of respect for the victims, we cannot share any further information.”

On Monday, officers from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department responded to a shooting at a home near South 50th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

Harris was killed and seven others were wounded in the shooting. Between 70 and 100 high school-age students attended the party, police said.

KCKPD says a person of interest is in custody as the investigation and search for other possible suspects continues.

Police A request for tips has been made Tuesday morning regarding the incident.

According to a spokeswoman for the Turner School District, the students were offered counseling services.
