HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Hattiesburg Police have arrested and charged a juvenile in connection with a West 5th Street shooting.
As of Tuesday afternoon, a 16-year-old from Hattiesburg was taken into custody. He has been charged with two related counts of murder and three related counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting investigation.
His name and mugshot have been withheld due to his age.
On Monday, Nov. 7, 19-year-old Jordan Willis of Hattiesburg turned himself in to HPD. He has been charged with destroying physical evidence in connection with the incident.
Willis was booked into the Forrest County Adult Detention Center. His relationship is yet to be determined.
On Friday, Nov. 4, 20-year-old Justin Williams of Hattiesburg was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence in connection with the case, HPD said.
Williams’ bond was set at $250,000 for aggravated assault, $750,000 for murder, and $50,000 for destroying physical evidence, according to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office.
Five people were injured in the shooting and admitted to a local hospital. Two later died of their injuries.
Among the dead were 48-year-old Ricardo Hollingworth and 57-year-old Sherry Strickland. Both were from Hattiesburg.
As of Friday, HPD reported that two of the three injured had been hospitalized.
HPD said the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a dispute between neighbors.
The teenager was admitted to the Juvenile Detention Center.
