Suspect in fatal MacArthur Center shooting arraigned in Norfolk court | Media Pyro

Norfolk, Va. – The man accused in a fatal shooting near MacArthur Center is expected in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

Gary L. Moore faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder and two counts of malicious wounding. It’s in connection with an April 2 shooting in the 300 block of Monticello Avenue. When Norfolk police officers arrived that evening, they found a man shot outside the mall. The deceased was Roosevelt McKinney, 33, of Norfolk.

A woman and another man were injured in the shooting. Both were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In May, Moore invited reporters to a Norfolk prison so he could make a public statement. He stated, “First of all, I turned myself in and didn’t announce it publicly. I feel like the media is working hard to tarnish my name and I want them to do the same thing – work hard to exonerate me once they find out the truth.

Moore added, “Once you all find out the truth, I want you all to work hard to get me fired.”

“What is the truth?” When asked He replied, “You will find me innocent.”

This is an evolving story. News 3 will update this today.
