CANTON, New York (WWNY) – After a nearly year-long investigation, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has determined that a 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting. Lawrence’s legal review and investigation for its Child Protective Services unit, part of the Department of Community Services.
This is the second in-depth look at DSS after a group of local advocates accused it of bullying, cheating and removing children from foster care, and after the government reports found high-performing workers, small studies, and children at risk.
Now, according to County Manager Ruth Doyle, of the 47 complaints, 37 were resolved through federal family court review or through state-run proceedings.
DSS Commissioner Joseph Seeber, who took over the agency in April, said in a statement: “Since my arrival, we have addressed the issues that arose before, and ranks ahead of state averages on nearly all available metrics.”
