Sarma on Sunday participated in a Bhumi Pujan at the venue of the upcoming Skill University of Assam at Mangaldai in Darrang district.

A Rs 1,000-crore project, the upcoming state-of-the-art university, aimed at imparting training in various skills, with financial assistance from the Manila-based Asian Development Bank, will be the first of its kind in the country. not only the region but all the eastern parts of the country.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Skill University, once operational, will act as a catalyst in the current effort to transform Assam into one of the most progressive states in all aspects of the country.

Referring to it as one of the most valuable assets of the nation, Sarma said that the upcoming vocational training center will contribute greatly to the process of nation building by preparing skilled workers and job seekers with the help of demand. time.

Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering in a new era of skill development, Sarma said that the Assam Skill University will write a new chapter in the State’s efforts aimed at preparing its youth to benefit. make the most of the new opportunities and revitalization India offers. The various fields of training such as Technical School, School of Design and Innovation, School of Activism, School of Management and Financial Training, School of Health Care, to name a few, will ensure that one can choose vocational training in his or her area of ​​Interests. not be forced to take a course to register in a formal educational institution, added the Prime Minister.

It is to be noted that the Assam government has already appointed former bureaucrat Subhash Das as the vice chancellor of Assam Skill University.

He said that the process of constructing the proposed road to replace the national highway through Mangaldai town will be taken up on priority basis.
