Man killed in Saskatoon police shooting had previously been shot by police.

Ronald Glenn Herman was killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday, according to an obituary.

The shooting happened in the 1300 block of Avenue E North around 5:45 p.m., police said.

Officers were sent back to the home after receiving reports of a man with a gun. Herman was armed at the time of the shooting, police said.

Herman was shot by police earlier this year near the intersection of 22nd Street and Avenue U.

Following the February 24 incident, he was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Herman was expected to appear in court next week in connection with the matter.

According to his obituary, Herman died after being shot by the Saskatoon Police Service.

Donations are requested to cover funeral and other expenses.

Herman’s death remains under investigation by the Regina Police Service.

In Saskatchewan, serious police-involved incidents are investigated by an outside police service.
