PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police are searching for a suspect identified in a September shooting that left one man dead in East Liberty.

On Sept. 29, police were called to the 600 block of N. St. Clair Street for a shooting and when they arrived, they found the victim, later identified as Rayvon Perkins Jr., lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital but eventually died.

Throughout their investigation, police spoke with a witness who said they saw Perkins approach an SUV and get into an argument with the driver, then heard what sounded like gunshots.

The driver saw the witness, turned on the vehicle, and sped south on N. St. Clair Street to East Liberty Boulevard.

A second witness told police he saw the same vehicle speeding away and took off the Tennessee-registered license plate number.

The police then identified the car using city surveillance footage.

Once they discovered it was a rental car, they tracked it to Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Old Perry Highway. They observed the car being returned on Friday, September 30 and spoke to the man who returned it.

The vehicle had a Tennessee license plate and the driver’s side window was broken.

They told the police that they hired the vehicle because their relative Marv needed the vehicle. Also, Marvin returned the vehicle to the dealer with a broken window.

Again, the police identified the suspect using surveillance footage and brought him to the scene. They identified the suspect as Marvin Roberson, and the cousin showed them a picture and discovered that they lived at 614 N. St. Clair Street.

Roberson does not have a concealed carry permit.

He has been charged with murder and firearms violations.
