Melbourne, Fla. – A Melbourne man accused of shooting at police officers early Saturday morning is being held on bond.

Anthony Rivera, 32, is facing several charges stemming from a shootout with Melbourne police when he responded to a domestic violence call on Millicent Circle, according to the Melbourne Police Department. He appeared in court Sunday and was ordered held without bond by a judge.

The woman called to say her boyfriend was trying to puncture her tires, police said. Rivera was found with a handgun before he opened fire on law enforcement, police said. An officer fired at Rivera before running into the residence, the department said.

According to the police department, Rivera began shooting at authorities from a second-story window at police and nearby homes.

Rivera eventually turned himself in and was taken into custody.

Police said no one was injured in the incident.

Rivera faces charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery, shooting into an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief.
