Guwahati: The Guwahati Press Association (GPC) has issued a serious warning to a section of journalists who are involved in collecting unauthorized and illegal fees from organizers of press conferences and events.

A joint statement issued by GPC President Manoj Kumar Nath and General Secretary Sanjoy Ray reads, “It has been brought to our notice that some journalists are participating in press conferences/book launches/events at Gauhati Press Club. were demanding money from the organizers of the event.”

The GPC said it strongly condemns the reprehensible actions, and would like to reiterate that “the GPC will not tolerate any misconduct by journalists”.

The GPC management has issued four phone numbers (8011745999, 7002555736, 8749870769, 8486740848) for the organizers who face any unauthorized needs.
