After becoming the 30th person killed in a shooting in Boston this year, the city’s police force continues to search for the shooter.

The latest shooting took place in broad daylight in Dorchester on Wednesday, killing a 30-year-old man. No one has been arrested yet.

There have been three fatal shootings in Boston this week alone, prompting growing concern among some residents.

“I’ve been in this neighborhood for over 10 years,” said Manny Miranda of Dorchester. “It’s the first time I’ve seen anything like this.”

Neighbors said they heard a series of gunshots in the area near Harvard and Paxton streets just after 1 a.m. Wednesday. One of the neighbors said he noticed a man lying in his driveway with gunshot wounds.

A man was shot and killed in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood on Wednesday.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators spent the day collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses.

As residents try to make sense of what happened, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden is repeating a familiar message.

“Too many guns on the street, gun violence can shake up our communities very quickly,” Hayden said. “So we’re back with another concern. We’ll do everything we can to resolve this matter and resolve this case.”

Police are asking anyone with information about this case to come forward. A recent spate of violence prompted Boston city councilors to call a special hearing to address the issue. No date has been set yet.
