Port Orange, FL – A 15-year-old Port Orange boy was arrested Wednesday after making online threats to become the next mass shooter, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said in a press release that they, along with the Port Orange Police Department, were made aware of threats made by the teenager on a Discord server, an online chat service used mostly for computer gaming.

In the posts, the teenager called himself the ‘next Greenwood Mall shooter’ and said he wasn’t joking or kidding. Investigators said he made posts targeting Hispanics and posted pictures of guns.
The posts were discovered through an anonymous tip received by the FBI, which prompted an investigation into the teenager, and Volusia County law enforcement was called in to arrest him.
Volusia County deputies and Port Orange police officers responded to the 15-year-old’s home and arrested him.
No firearms were found during the investigation.
The teenager has been charged with making a written threat to kill. He is in secure custody at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
