Sources said that the mountain town is in a water shortage situation as a result of the winter season, and residents have started saving water, which could be the reason for the breeding of dengue mosquitoes. Although water crisis is a common issue during the winter season every year, Karbi Anglong has never seen many cases of dengue in the past.

High fever, headache, vomiting, and muscle and joint pain are some of the common Dengue symptoms among others.

National Health Mission, Assam, reported that a total of 369 cases of dengue have been detected across the state since November 1, Karbi Anglong alone reported 344 cases.

Kamrup Metro (Guwahati), Nalbari, Sivasagar, Dima Hasao, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Kamrup, Nagaon, Hojai, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri are the other districts where dengue cases have been reported.
