Guwahati: The Assam government has taken action against more than 1,200 Uriya traders recently for failing to comply with the government’s fertilizer and stocking rules, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said on Monday.

“During our investigation, it has come to light that many urea traders have not taken their quota from the government distribution point, while others who have already continued to pick their quota,” Bora said. said at a press conference.

These traders who are stockists of urine material are trying to change the market price, he said.

Boora said that the licenses of three wholesalers and 1,272 retailers have been suspended, following the discovery of such irregularities in the handling and storage of fertilizers in recent times.

The minister also said that the connection between the department, traders and farmers will be accelerated, to ensure that there is no artificial increase in the price of management in the region.

He said that when the traders put in the mandatory materials in the place of sale, the management is monitoring the situation better.

The Assam Cabinet in May decided to establish a standard operating procedure for the distribution of fertilizers, especially urea, a controlled substance under the Essential Commodities Act, 1956, to prevent dumping and black marketing.
