ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) – An argument that started in a parking lot spilled over into an Enterprise Walmart where a man was fatally shot Wednesday night.

Both of them picked up weapons and the fight escalated.

According to Enterprise Police Capt. Billy Haglund, multiple shots were fired at the popular department store.

He told News 4 that the shots were fired with a handgun.

Investigators took one suspect into custody, but no charges were immediately filed.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police ordered customers to remain inside the store, possibly because they wanted to make sure the scene was secure and interview witnesses.

No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Within a few hours, the heavy police presence was reduced.

WTVY News Director Stephen Cruz said as he rode the Enterprise on his way home from Pike County.

More information will be released and this story will be updated.
