Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — An eight-year-old girl who was fighting for her life after being shot in a violent road rage incident last week has died.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, Phoenix police and firefighters responded to a rescue at 16th Street and Greenway Parkway. Upon arrival, the fight between the two men turned violent and physical. During the altercation, the second driver, 28, stabbed another man before jumping back into the car. The man started to run away but the jeep driver pulled out a gun and started firing. An 8-year-old girl in the back seat was hit. Both men were hospitalized.

Although the girl was admitted to the hospital, the authorities had earlier said that her condition is satisfactory. Police confirmed the girl, who has not been identified, died early Tuesday.

Phoenix police told Arizona’s family they expected to release more details later Tuesday. Check back for updates.
