Two people were injured and a Toronto high school is on lockdown after a shooting reported Monday afternoon, police say.

Toronto police said emergency crews were called to the area of ​​Markham and Ellesmere roads at 3:22 p.m. Monday for reports of a man shot at Woburn Collegiate Institute.

Police said the school was on lockdown and the suspect, who was wearing a black jacket and a Covid mask, fled westbound.

Police have not confirmed if the shooting happened inside or near the school.

In an update just after 4:30 p.m., police said students at Woburn College would leave the school on the East Site with the help of police.
