A Tulsa man who shot and killed a 13-year-old boy during an argument at his Parkview Terrace Apartments in Tulsa pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson said.
Christian James Harrison, 20, of Tulsa pleaded guilty Second degree murder in Indian country.
“Christian Harrison took the life of a 13-year-old boy. Today, he has been held responsible for this heinous crime. “My thoughts are with the boy’s family and friends,” said US Attorney Clint Johnson. “Our children are meant to outlive us and not be swayed by senseless acts of violence. To make our neighborhoods safer for all children, law enforcement will continue to seek justice for victims of violent crime. “
On December 22, 2021, Harrison, then 19, got into an argument with the victim’s older brother. The brother was visiting his girlfriend at Harrison’s apartment. Soon after, the youth returned to continue the argument with his 13-year-old brother and another child victim. They found Harrison near the apartment’s mailbox. During the argument, Harrison pulled out a gun. The older brother asked Harrison if he would rather use a gun than fight. Harrison replied “yes” and fired about seven times at the group. Three bullets hit the victim. Harrison fled the scene of the crime.
Around 6 p.m., the Tulsa Police Department responded to the apartment complex where shots were fired. The officers were killed with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later taken to a Tulsa hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Several witnesses identified Harrison as the shooter. On December 28, 2021, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service and the FBI located and arrested Harrison outside a vacant trailer in Locust Grove.
The FBI, the Tulsa Police Department and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service conducted the investigation. Assistant US Attorney Steven J. Bryden is prosecuting the case.
