Toronto East End shooting: 27-year-old police ID victim | Media Pyro

Toronto police have identified the man who was shot in the city’s east side on Friday.

The shooting happened at Danforth and Byron avenues, east of Donlands Avenue, around 3:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, although life-saving measures were taken.

Police on Saturday identified the man as 27-year-old Asadullah Ghani. His is the city’s 58th homicide of the year.

Police said they are searching for three men who fled the area in a gray SUV. No other details have been released.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” police said in a news release. “Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, saw the shooting, or has dash cam or security video to contact police.”
