CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The trial of one of the men accused in a deadly mass shooting at a Cedar Rapids nightclub is set to begin Tuesday.

In April, three people were killed and nine injured in a shooting at Taboo nightclub.

Damion Walker faces multiple charges, including first degree murder. A charge of causing grievous bodily harm was dropped.

Walker shot and killed Michael Valentine inside a nightclub.

Surveillance video of the shooting shows Walker fire the gun eight times, six of which hit Valentine.

Walker tried to avoid his charges. His lawyers argued that his right to a speedy trial had been violated.

Walker was arrested in Illinois shortly after the shooting, but was not extradited back to Iowa until months later.

The trial is expected to last eight days. Walker is expected to claim self-defense in the shooting.

Timothy Rush is another accused in the shooting.
