UNION CITY – A 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being shot early Sunday morning, authorities said.

In a statement Sunday afternoon, police said officers responded to the 4200 block of Lunar Way just after 6:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police described the shooting as an isolated incident and added that they believe there is no threat to the public.

This is the second shooting in the city since a shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the 35500 block of Seventh Street. Officers responding to that shooting found a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
