An investigation is underway after a man was shot 11 times on a SEPTA Broad Street Line subway train Monday afternoon. A teenager who was shot in the arm was in stable condition but died from his injuries. NBC10’s Karen Hua has the details.

The train stopped at Broad Street and Fairmount Avenue, where police picked up Cherry and took him to Temple University Hospital, where he died at 3:03 p.m.

The 16-year-old boy was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Police believe the teenager is innocent.

Police said there were 12 passengers on the train when the shooting took place. Investigators believe robbery was the motive.

Philadelphia Police Capt. Jason Smith said he was wearing a hospital mask at the time of the shooting. “He seems to be going through it [victim’s] Pockets at a time during the fight. This is after he was shot.

Investigators found 14 shell casings from the train, mostly from Bourne’s gun, investigators said. Police said it was possible that Cherry, who was found at the scene, had fired his own gun.

Although police announced Wednesday that Bourne had been arrested in connection with the shooting, they did not disclose the day or time Bourne was taken into custody.
