A teenager has been charged in connection with the shooting death of another teenager at an apartment building in Scarborough last month.
On the afternoon of Sept. 21, police and paramedics were called to Gilder Drive in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue, where 17-year-old Cybion Lawrence was found in front of a building with gunshot wounds.
Lawrence was rushed to the hospital where his life was in danger, but he was confirmed dead. He is the city’s 52nd homicide.
Police have identified the victim as Cybion Lawrence, who was shot and killed in Scarborough on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
The shooting prompted a nearby school to be temporarily shut down and secured.
Two weeks later, on Wednesday, police announced that a 16-year-old boy had been arrested in the case.
He is charged with first degree murder. Police cannot identify the child under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
