DeKalb County, Ga. – A security guard is dead and another injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in DeKalb County.

A young man who identified himself as Eric McKenzie’s brother told Seiden that they are still processing what happened and that at this time, they have made a family decision not to talk about the tragedy.
The shooting took place at the Cosmopolitan Premier Lounge on Glenwood Road around 2.30 am on Tuesday.
Police said there was an argument inside the club and everyone was asked to leave. A suspect opened fire and hit two security personnel.
Investigators identified the victim as Eric McKenzie, 30, of Lithonia.

There were markers visible all the way from the front door to the parking lot and several shell casings in the back of the parking lot. It was unclear if anyone was shot.

According to police, McKenzie and an unidentified security guard who suffered a gunshot wound were trying to start a fight before shots were fired in the parking lot.
Channel 2 reached out to the nightclub and is still waiting to hear back from someone in management.
A quick search on social media revealed that the club has hosted some major hip-hop shows, including Kodak Black and Future, who performed during NBA All-Star Weekend in Atlanta in 2021.
As the investigation continues, Channel 2 is working closely with police to find out more information about the shooter.
