DAYTON – One person was hospitalized following a shooting Monday afternoon on US 35 in Dayton.

According to Bean, a vehicle drove off and fired several shots at another vehicle.

In a 911 call NewsCenter 7 obtained through a public records request, a caller reported a man shot inside a vehicle.

“Someone, I don’t know who shot into his car, but I heard three or four shots and I looked around,” the caller said. “He stopped because they shot his tire out.

Bean says emergency personnel were on the scene at the time of the shooting and were able to administer emergency first aid.

“Fortunately, the fire department was a few cars away at the time of the shooting, so a Dayton Fire Department ladder truck was on the scene immediately and administered first aid to the victim,” Bean said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There is no information on the suspect vehicle at this time. Bean says shell casings that could be connected to the shooting were recovered from the highway and will be sent for testing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that could assist police is asked to contact the Dayton Police Department.
