A teenager was killed and three others, including a police officer, were injured in a shooting at a busy intersection in Washington DC, the Metropolitan Police Department in the US capital confirmed.
Although details about the incident and the shooter have not yet been released, MPD Chief Robert J. Conti told the media. Celebrate Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
The shooting is believed to have started after an argument, when a man pulled out a gun and started shooting. The officer, who intervened to bring the situation under control, was shot in the lower body and will survive, the chief said.
It is the latest in a string of public shootings in the US in the past two months.
