Mother, daughter charged in Ascension gas station shooting; A couple went there for a fight | Media Pyro

DUTCHTOWN — A woman and her adult daughter went to an Ascension Parish gas station looking to fight someone before opening fire in the parking lot.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that 40-year-old Reesa Pointer and 21-year-old Reneshia Pointer, both of Baton Rouge, are facing charges. The couple also brought a small child to the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Raneshia turned herself in Thursday, but deputies are still searching for her mother.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot near Old Jefferson Highway south of the interstate. The two went to a gas station to fight with another group of women, and during the fight Reza pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting the other woman several times.

The principal was charged with attempted second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon by a principal, two counts of destruction of property, simple battery, disturbing the peace and child absconding.

Her mother, Reza, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of criminal damage to property, simple battery, disturbing the peace and child absconding.
