MiQ buys AirGrid’s confidential audience platform

November 4, 2022

UK-based marketing intelligence and programmatic media specialist MiQ has acquired privacy-focused audience platform AirGrid for an undisclosed sum.

John GoldingThe AirGrid platform “scales” marketers’ audience strategies across a network of premium publishers, connecting them directly for cookie-free audience creation and activation. The firm uses machine learning to segment publishers’ audiences without using any identifiers, then stores, models and activates locally on the device so that user data never leaves the device.

MiQ says the deal will add “critical” publisher-focused technology capabilities and proprietary data to its own suite of cookie-free solutions. AirGrid will retain its branding and operate as a separate entity under the MiQ umbrella, and MiQ is working to expand AirGrid’s reach into the US and Canadian markets in the second half of 2023. Dennis Jurkiewicz, founder and CEO of AirGrid, is now the managing director. and technical director of the business.

The acquisition comes just two months after MiQ’s investment from private equity firm Bridgepoint, which values the company at $1 billion. John Goulding (pictured), Director of Global Strategy at MiQ, comments: “With AirGrid, publishers and marketers will be able to target unreachable audiences previously unreachable through cookie blockers. Publishers gain better control, access and monetization capabilities, brands can apply more precise targeting features to key audiences that were historically unavailable, and consumer data never leaves their devices.”
