A shooting on Chicago’s West Side Monday night left 13 people injured, including three children. CBS Chicago’s Dana Kozlov reports. The condition of two victims is critical.

Superintendent of Police David Brown said it was over in about three seconds.

Two gunmen in a dark SUV opened fire indiscriminately at a crowd gathered on a street corner before speeding off, police said.

The victims’ conditions range from serious to non-life-threatening, Brown said.

Among those shot were a 3-year-old, an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old, he noted. Others were adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

A 14th person was hit by the car while trying to flee the scene, police added.

The victims were shifted to several hospitals.

Police were searching for the gunman or gunmen, but no motive was known. The corner where the shooting took place has no history of conflicts, Brown said.

Some of the incident was captured on surveillance cameras, and detectives hope the victims will provide more information, Brown said.

Police said the crowd was alert. Alderman Jason Ervin told CBS Chicago it was for someone who recently died of natural causes.

“It’s heartbreaking when people go to memorialize someone and then become victims,” Ervin said.

A witness told CBS Chicago that a man was shot in the head.
