Jacksonville, Fla. – A man was killed and a woman was injured Friday morning in a double shooting in the Arlington neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. James Hopley, just before 6 a.m., officers were called to Bert Road at the Lex Chateaux condominiums in reference to a man shot. The area is just east of Arlington Road North and north of the Arlington Expressway.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound and a woman with gunshot wounds taken to the hospital.

It is not clear what the relationship between man and woman is.

The woman’s injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Although the investigation is early, investigators believe the shooting happened in a parking lot, but he has not confirmed exactly where.

Investigators are expected to interview several witnesses and review available surveillance video for more information.

JSO does not have any suspect information to release.

Witnesses told News4Jax that they saw the children at the scene shortly after the shooting and that something had to change.

Dalton Hudson and Hollis Alexander said they heard a woman screaming when officers arrived.

“She was loud, she was throwing things in her apartment — even though the cops were at the door,” Hudson said.

Several young children were seen at the scene and two women quickly moved them.

“You don’t put a child in danger. Well, do you have guns? guess what? Keep your guns away from these kids. Why are people being so stupid?,” Alexander said.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 904-630-0500 or 1-866-845-TIPS to remain anonymous.
