Stratford Police Service arrested a 22-year-old man after receiving reports of a “male shooting at ducks in a storm pond with a black handgun”.

Police said they arrived at Culliton Street and Foreman Avenue just after 5 p.m. Friday and observed a man with a black Glock-style handgun.

“This prompted the officers to remove their firearms and arrest the male at gunpoint,” police said in a news release.

The man was arrested without incident and police identified the gun seized as a black Glock replica BB gun.

He has been charged with concealed weapons, possession of weapons for dangerous purposes and disorderly conduct.

Police are reminding the public of the dangers of carrying realistic replica weapons, and the use of these types of weapons, including BB guns, pellet guns and airsoft guns, is prohibited in the city of Stratford.
