UDHAMPUR : As part of the National fortnight to promote Legal awareness and outreach launched by the Chief Justice of India under the theme “Empowering People through the Rule of Law and Promotion”, a mega legal Awareness camp was organized here at Government Postgraduate College Majalta, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Krittika Jyotsna.

During the day-long Citizen Empowerment law enforcement camp, participants were educated about their legal rights and various programs launched by the Government for the benefit of the public.

A galaxy of speakers including students, professors and Public Representatives shared their views. The Line offices organized several stalls displaying different themes for the awareness of the rural people. Finance department, health department, ICDS department, Education department, welfare department and agriculture department participated in the camp and gave information on various welfare projects related to them. office and solve public problems on the spot.

The Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, spoke about the work of the National, State, District and Tehsil legal services Authority and the provisions proposed in the Law Enforcement Act, Act 1987. He said SC/ST members are victims of trafficking. , women/children, mentally ill or disabled, victims of major disasters, ethnic violence, communal persecution, economically weaker sections and others as appropriate to obtain legal services in terms of section 12 of the Act.

The knowledge of the students of different schools and colleges is necessary to give the benefits of legal rights and programs among the rural people, Jaral said. He also said that the Constitution is the first thing that can be provided for the citizens in the preamble of the constitution, which can only be done by providing legal aid to the weaker sections of the society.

DDC Councilor, Majalta Amit Sharma, also spoke about the legal facilities provided by the Government. The Principal Degree College Majalta Professor Dr. Namrata talked about women’s rights and legal avenues available to address their issues. Tehsildar Majalta Uttam Singh Palsar organized the event.

All Sectoral Officers of different departments, Professors, Teachers besides PRI members attended the camp.
