Surrey, BC – BC’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is investigating a police-involved shooting in Vancouver.

On the evening of May 5, 2022, police responded to a complaint at a hotel in the 400 block of East Hastings Street, according to information from the Vancouver Police Department.

When police arrived, a man reportedly had a weapon and police opened fire. The youth who was shot died on the spot.

The IIO was immediately informed and an investigation started.
