LANSING, Mich. — New guidance has been issued outlining legal actions against those accused of harming the elderly and other vulnerable adults.
Attorney General Dana Nessel made the announcement Monday A Guide to Investigating and Prosecuting Serious Financial Fraud It is available to police and prosecutors in the state of Michigan.
The guide, issued by the Elder Abuse Task Force, can be accessed on the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s websiteNessel’s office said.
“In the age of Michigan’s population, we expect to see more reports of seniors’ financial vulnerability to local laws,” Nessel said. “It is vital that police and prosecutors have access to the tools and training they need to investigate these cases thoroughly and prosecute crimes, and I remain proud of the work of the Elder Abuse Task Force to help serve as a resource to law enforcement.”
We’ve been told that the lead has been sent to the Michigan State Police, the Michigan Police Chiefs Association, and the Michigan Police Association.
