The Kansas Judiciary and Ellis County Circuit Court have announced that Kansas Legal Services will offer legal assistance to Kansans through the Ellis County Circuit Court Self Help Center. KLS provides advice and may provide limited assistance in reviewing and drafting court documents related to non-criminal matters. Lawyers can also help with cancellations.

A Kansas Legal Services attorney will be at the Ellis County Courthouse on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month to assist with non-criminal cases. Anyone seeking legal assistance on a limited basis is encouraged to apply for services. Applications will be screened for conflicts and opportunities. Forms can be found on the 23rd Judicial District website (www.23rdjudicial.org) or at the Ellis County District Court office.

The Self Help Center is available outside legal aid days. Residents are encouraged to use the Self Help Center for forms, information, and other resources about accessing the justice system. The Center is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
