A Bethlehem man has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Route 22 that injured a driver.

Jacob Elliott Garcia, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder, assault and carrying a firearm into an occupied building in connection with Wednesday’s shooting, authorities said Monday.

Garcia is being held in Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Pennsylvania State Police said the shooting happened just before 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on Route 22 East in Whitehall Township. State police said the driver of a white Dodge Charger was traveling in the left lane when someone traveling in the right lane shot them.

The injured driver exited Route 22 onto McArthur Road (Route 145), where they stopped and were treated by emergency personnel before being taken to a local hospital, troopers said.

Authorities closed the right lane of northbound McArthur Road and the nearby ramp to Route 22 East for more than an hour for the investigation.
