Guwahati, November 9: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the largest ever cold storage facility in Northeast Chaygaon along with fruit processing facility at Paneri, on Tuesday.

This facility has a capacity of 5,000 MT and was built by the state government at a cost of Rs 24.75 crore.

Taking to Twitter, CM Sarma said, “Inauguration of the largest cold storage in North East with 5,000-MT Chaygaon, which will increase the infrastructure of agriculture. , a part of their production in I have no storage space.

Meanwhile, addressing a public rally in Chhaygaon, CM Sarma said the opening of a 5,000-MT cold storage and Paneri fruit processing facility marks a new chapter in Assam’s agriculture sector.

He is sure that food processing and proper packaging of agricultural products will lead to economic changes in our country.

Assam CM also stressed on cultivation of high value plants like sal, agar, teak, and other domestic plants for economic benefits.

In his speech, the CM further said that the State Government will raise the MSP to Rs 2,006, bring 9 lakh more people under the Orunodoi aspiration next month, and distribute 52 lakh ration cards from January next year.

He also promised that he will provide 5 million free medical treatment to ration card holders, and he will build 25 new colleges next year.
