The man was accused of raping a minor girl on Wednesday in Karimganj’s Nilambazar area, and the victim’s family filed a police report the same day, police said. Two policemen went to arrest the accused, but according to the FIR, they were assaulted.
The two soldiers were later admitted to a hospital where they are being treated. The accused lives in Nilambazar area of Karimganj.
“On Wednesday, the accused barged into the house and sexually assaulted the girl. The police responded immediately after the mother’s mother lodged a report, said an officer.
Partha Protim Das, additional SP of Karimganj, said that when two policemen tried to arrest the suspect, they attacked him.
In Nilambazar police station, two cases were reported. The first was under Sections 448, 354A, and 325 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 of the POCSO Act, which protects children from sexual offences. He assaulted the police officers, which led to the filing of the second case under sections 332, 353 and 34 of the IPC.
