Guwahati, November 10: Madrasas in Assam have been requested to submit all the information about the teachers working in these institutions to the state government. Moreover, madrasas in Assam have also been directed to provide information about the locations of these institutions.

Madrasas in Assam have been told to submit all these details by December 1.

Notably, the December 1 deadline was decided in a meeting with Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Director of Higher Education Mamata Hojai, other government officials and representatives of madrasas.

Madrasas in Assam have come under the radar of investigative agencies after the arrest of several operatives of Al-Qaeda in India (AQIS) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) who were working as teachers in the madrasas.

At least 47 people, including madrassa teachers, have been arrested by the police in Assam for alleged links with terrorist outfits.
