A shootout broke out during a Thonotosasa house party and two people were shot. One of the victims died, deputies said.

Around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about a shooting at a home in the 9000 block of Harney Road. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was hospitalized and is expected to recover.

Another female victim was located at 11511 US Highway 301. She was also rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Based on preliminary evidence, deputies said an argument broke out at the party, leading to a shooting. It is not yet known whether the accused and the victims knew each other. Officials did not say whether the suspect was taken into custody.

Several teenagers are interviewed by deputies at a gas station. A white vehicle with a bullet hole was parked at one of the pumps, possibly connected to the shooting.

Deputies are still investigating what led to the shooting, and the victims have not been publicly identified or their ages released.
