Performance
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – CrystalDiskMark
Starting with our benchmark series with CrystalDiskMark, the storage device in the Acer Aspire Vero 2022 is on the slower side for NVMe SSDs, but not slow by any means. It should be more than enough for most people, especially given the large 1TB capacity.
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – Cinebench R20
Moving on to Cinebench R20, the Intel Core i7-1255U powering the Acer Aspire Vero 2022 shows big numbers in single-core performance, although multi-core performance isn’t really anything to get excited about. That shouldn’t be surprising since it’s optimized more for efficiency rather than performance.

Then on the 4K Unigine SuperPosition Optimized benchmark, the Acer Aspire Vero 2022 didn’t do well but this shouldn’t be surprising since it doesn’t have a discrete GPU. It managed to break the mark of at least 1,000, which seems to be normal compared to the ultraportable items of the previous years.
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – 3DMark Time Spy
A similar pattern can be seen on 3DMark Time Spy, which shows a lack of competence in the graphic department for the Acer Aspire Vero 2022. As you can see, there is a significant difference in the score with just RTX 3050 Ti.
Normally, we would include the PCMark here but for some strange reason, all the tests in the software refused to run despite re-downloads and reinstalls, even after reinstalling Windows. Therefore, we will omit it for this review.
The Good
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – Lid
The Acer Aspire Vero 2022 has an eco-friendly construction as it is made up of PCR plastic. While it looks like the build quality might be questionable, the laptop is well built with a pretty solid build quality. Sure, you have sturdier laptops with metal chassis out there but this is good enough for minimal flexibility.
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – Ports
It also has a decent array of ports with two USB-A ports, a Thunderbolt 4 port that doubles as a charging port, an HDMI port, and a combo audio jack. Additionally, you get a fingerprint reader on the trackpad, which is always nice to have handy. The keyboard is definitely comfortable to use with a low travel distance and a decent tactile feel, as long as you don’t compare it to a mechanical keyboard.
As for the display, it is far from the best, which I will explain in a later article, but I noticed that it is brighter than its predecessors. Brightness is definitely adequate now so if you plan to use this outside, it should be easier for you to see what’s on the screen.

The Bad Life
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – Rather thick
While I wouldn’t describe the Acer Aspire Vero 2022 as heavy, it’s definitely on the thicker side. For a 14-inch laptop, its 17.9mm thickness seems more impressive than I expected. Having said that, it is still very easy to carry around but may be a hindrance for those who prefer thinner devices.
Another disadvantage is the lack of an SD card reader. I would say that the amount of USB ports is sufficient, although another USB-A port would be great but its status would be raised significantly with an SD card reader. If you don’t often spend time transferring data from a memory card or are willing to carry around a USB card reader, this wouldn’t be a deal breaker for you.
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review – Display
Finally, while I mentioned that the display has good brightness, the colors are definitely lacking. It looks more on the choppy side and if you put it side by side with any modern productivity laptop today, you can easily tell that the color accuracy is quite off. If you are using this for office work and web browsing only, you wouldn’t have to worry about this.

Acer Aspire Vero 2022 Review –
The Acer Aspire Vero 2022 shows that recyclable, eco-friendly laptops can be good. Sure, it has its drawbacks but it’s certainly quite capable as a daily driver. Remember that Malaysia will only be getting the 15-inch variant as the 14-inch version is not being offered here. Basically it is the same, but more, with retail prices starting from RM2,599 to RM3,299 for the Intel Core i5 and i7 versions respectively.
