A teenage girl was injured in a shooting Monday in Carpinteria | Media Pyro

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in a Monday shooting in Carpinteria that left a teenage girl with moderate injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to an area hospital around 6:40 p.m. Monday to investigate “a report of a female juvenile who had been shot in the leg,” according to a statement released Tuesday by sheriff’s office spokeswoman Raquel Zick. Upon investigation, deputies found the victim was shot near the 5500 block of Carpinteria Avenue, which stretches from the Casa del Sol Motel to the Motel 6. The victim is expected to recover.
