A group of local residents is now offering a $3,000 reward for a horse found shot to death in a Molino pasture.

The horse was found dead Sunday in a pasture behind a home near Don Sutton Ballpark on Crabtree Church Road. According to the Escambia County Sheriff, the horse had two gunshot wounds to the head.

A reward is being offered to local residents for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. The $3,000 reward is in addition to any other reward Crime Stoppers may offer.

The 27-year-old horse had been seen by the homeowner the previous night while he was riding the horse for the owner.

“He’s been with me my whole life, so I couldn’t believe it when I heard it,” the owner, who wished to remain anonymous, told NorthEscambia.com.

ECSO said their crime scene unit was called in to investigate, and Escambia County Animal Control also responded Sunday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 433-STOP or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.
