GUWAHATI: Continuing the war against the movement of contraband on the railways, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the North Eastern (NF) Railway has recovered. ganja worth 11 lacs.

About 110 Kgs of Ganja was recovered by RPF from NF Railway on November 4 and 5.

The ganja were recovered from unclaimed bags during routine checks and drives at Lumding and Jalpaiguri railway stations in Assam.

In an incident on November 4, the RPF team at Lumding conducted a check on train no 15909 (Avadh Assam Express) from Dibrugarh to Lumding railway station.

During the check, they seized 5 unclaimed bags containing 12 packages. ganja.

The ganja It was caught weighing 80kg and valued at around Rs 8 lakh.

Later, the seized items were handed over to GRP of Lumding for further action.

In another incident on the same day, a team of RPF on Jalpaiguri road drove at the railway station on Jalpaiguri road.

While they were in the car, they seized 11 packages ganja weighing 11kg and priced at around Rs 1.10 lakh.

Later, the seized items were handed over to the GRP of New Maynaguri for further action.

In another such case on November 5, the RPF team at Lumding conducted a surprise search on train No 22504 (New Tinsukia – SMVB Bengaluru Express) at Lumding railway station in Assam.

During the check, they seized 23 packages ganja weighing 19 kg and priced at around Rs 1.90 lakh.

Later, the seized items were handed over to GRP of Lumding for further action.
