Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India]November 13 (ANI): Uttarakhand is becoming a new destination for film shooting, Uttarakhand Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar on Sunday said.
“Uttarakhand is emerging as a new shooting destination for the film industry day by day. Uttarakhand’s natural beauty is attracting people for shooting,” said Abhinav Kumar, adding that over 300 big and small films have been shot in the state. A year on, that’s a “huge positive sign.”
Special Principal Secretary Information Abhinav Kumar was speaking at Valley of the World International Literature and Art Festival in Dehradun during a discussion on the film industry as a growth driver for Uttarakhand’s economy.
He said that many writers, actors, filmmakers and famous personalities are also working in the film industry based in Uttarakhand.
Briefing about the activities being undertaken by the state government through the Film Development Council, Kumar said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is working on film city infrastructure and a new film policy to make Uttarakhand a “new shooting destination”. .
Indicating that the Uttarakhand Film Development Council has sought suggestions on the proposed Film Policy 2022, the Special Principal Secretary Information informed that the work on the policy is in progress.
Underlining that the 2022 film policy will be completed by the end of this year, he appealed to various artists in the film industry to give their advice for the new film policy 2022.

He also emphasized that they want to connect artists, locals, actors and everyone with the new film policy.
He said that increasing filming in Uttarakhand will provide employment to the people here and new opportunities for the youth.
“It is going to become a big hub. Also, we are promoting local film artistes and films made in local language, which has subsidy criteria in the Information and Public Relations Department,” he added.
He said that the work to find more than 100 acres of land for the expansion of Film City here is being done as per the directives of Chief Minister Dhami and through this, better and higher quality studios will be opened in the state.
He also said that Film City will be developed as a high quality production hub in the state where pre-production, production and post-production work can be done at one place.
He expressed confidence that the foundation would be visible in Film City within the next five years.
He said that work has been done to connect the remote areas of the hills with the plains as shooting centers. A new OTT platform is also being considered for local films in Uttarakhand. Along with this, the work of giving UK Filmfare awards will also start in the state soon, he added. (ANI)
