TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Officials with the Toledo Police Department are holding a press conference Tuesday to address Friday’s alleged double homicide by police. You can watch it live here. This story will be updated to provide more details after the briefing.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2700 block of Albion just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday and found two victims with gunshot wounds. According to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, Malinda Moore and Brent Roscoe died of their injuries in the shooting. Moore died of a gunshot wound to the neck, and Roscoe died of multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy found that Roscoe had a total of eight gunshot wounds. The deputy coroner ruled both deaths a homicide.
Police say an investigation into a double homicide in Albion led them to the 600 block of Leech at Weiler Homes. A member of the Critical Incident Negotiation Team attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect did not comply with officers’ instructions to drop the gun, a department spokesman said. The assailant finally got out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand. Police attempted further negotiations with the suspect, but when that failed, the officers shot the suspect. Our media partner, the Toledo Blade, reports that officers shot Jones seven times. Emergency crews took him to an area hospital, where he later died.
